Story from son - Jay
My favorite event was during a night where she was completing one of her odd routines of carrying the large COUCH CUSHIONS into her bedroom and placing them behind her door.
One night I decided to grab the cushions from her room and place them back on the couch at the same time she was bringing from the couch in to her room. While passing through the small hallway I placed one of the cushions in front of my belly and purposely, and softly, bumped the pillow into her cushion. She took a step back and then took her cushion and bumped into me. And for a while I, 5'10' 200lbs, was having a bumping cushion battle with my 78 year old, 100lb mother. After a short bumping battle she finally looked at me and stated half smiling "you are still my son and I can still put you over my knees and spank you". I laughingly replied "you wouldn't dare".
She put down the cushion, spanked my behind as she walked passed me, and never moved the cushions again.

Always My Nana
My heart is full of childhood memories of Nana. Swinging by the drug store and always leaving with a secret sucker in my pocket a kiss and a wink. Kids nights with Nana were my favorite as we’d watch Shirley Temple movies, have “coffee” together and always walk to the park. She loved walks! Even as a child she would always listen to everything you said, every worry, every story, every injustice your best friend might have done that week and her advice was real. She never dismissed your anger over things that really didn’t matter she always understood. As an adult watching her interact with my kids and even just random children she came across I really understood her magic with kids. She could bring a smile to any child’s face, make them feel special and always got down to their level. She especially loved tickling babies’ bellies and having them pull her hair. It was hard seeing pieces of her disappear over the years but even in her final weeks she would light up around my kiddos and they held her hands like always as I pushed her wheelchair to the park, which will always be our Nana park. LOVE YOU ALWAYS!
